Oxpecker
Have you ever had too much spare time but your phone isn't with you? Wouldn't it be nice if you could scroll your Mastodon feed on your cellular-enabled Apple Watch?
Give Oxpecker a try. Login once from your paired iPhone, and your Mastodon feed arrives on to your Apple Watch.
Most Mastodon instances have a set of custom emojis, represented as :shortcode:
. Oxpecker uses its proprietary rendering system that renders custom emojis are represented as they should - a feature that's uncommon in other clients for the Apple Watch.
Oxpecker is designed with the Apple Watch in mind, allowing you to browse your Mastodon feed in an optimised environment, promising a smooth and reliable experience. Oxpecker is also built by the same developer of Pigeon, a popular Telegram client for the Apple Watch!
Unlike many Apple Watch apps, Oxpecker can open links in the Mastodon posts that you see. A tap brings you to our internal web browser, so you can browse links with convenience.
Photos, Videos, GIFs and Audio of every post, along with its corresponding alt text, can be viewed directly in the Oxpecker app. Unlike other competing client apps on the Apple Watch, Oxpecker allows you to zoom and pan photos, to view the details of it.
Oxpecker supports push notifications, so that you won't have to miss the post mentions from others. The profile picture is shown, alongside the notification content, and attached image, if available.
With Oxpecker, you can write new posts, reply to other's posts, repost, favourite or bookmark, view threads and replies, directly in the app. When necessary, you can also delete your own posts.
